A dinner party by La Belle Assiette

June 23, 2015

In our house, I do all the cooking. I don’t mind because I really love it and find it very relaxing. I also enjoy entertaining, but this often means that I am stuck in the kitchen and don’t get to spend as much time with my guests as I would like to.

La Belle Assiette looks to solve this problem. They have over 570 chefs in 6 countries working with them and aim to take all the hard work out of entertaining. You choose the chef, the menu and your budget and the chef does the rest….they even do the washing up at the end of your night! What could be better?

Before a chef is added to the La Belle Assiette network, they have to be validated to ensure they meet the high standards set by the company and I was lucky enough to host a validation dinner for chef Christopher Caudle at my house. In this case, Chris chose the menu but contacted me a week before our planned dinner to run through it. Fennel featured and when I let him know of my deep dislike for it, he promptly changed it. What a guy!  We finalised the arrangements and all I had to do was wait. No grocery shopping, nothing.

The day of the dinner dawned and I have to say I felt like I’d forgotten something all day! I am so used to running around frantically to get everything arranged. Chris arrived two hours before my guests and took over my kitchen. I’m not going to lie, it felt weird. But a couple of glasses of bubbly later and I was beginning to enjoy having someone else do all the cooking!

Sitting down to a beautifully prepared three course dinner in your own home is a real treat and in this day and age where most people are really time starved,  I think the whole concept is a brilliant one. From canapés to barbecues; from cocktail parties to fine dining, La Belle Assiette has a chef for every occasion and budget.

We all had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, Chris was charming yet discreet and the food we ate was delicious.  If you’re looking for something a little different, that doesn’t involve a lot of effort on your part, then I would highly recommend using La Belle Assiette.

Love the fact that they do the clean up as well. This is sometimes where my own personal chef / husband falls down XD 😀

It’s where my personal pot washer/husband fails too! But this concept is fab and there were no arguments about washing up!

This is a really brilliant idea… Love that you get to enjoy great food and hosting at your own home but without the stress of cooking and cleaning! May I ask what they charge for their services though on top of your food budget? Cracking menu 😉 Lots of love, Andrea xxx

Hey Andy – there are different price ranges dependant on the experience of the chef and the type of event you choose (canapés, BBQ or sit down dinner). You can set filters accordingly. It’s a fab concept and I will definitely use it again! Sam x
