My Gastronomic Highlights 2016

28th December 2016

This year there was lots of eating out, but not much writing about it. I still took loads of pictures of my food though – because if you haven’t taken a picture of it, it hasn’t happened, right?

You could say that I fell out of love with blogging this year and didn’t feel the incessant need to document every meal I had. Or to be the first to review a new restaurant or to even eat at any of the number of fantastic new openings this year! Though looking back at what I have posted, there seems to be more and more recipes and lots more pictures on my Instagram feed of the meals I have cooked. So who knows? Maybe this will be the way in which my little piece of the internet evolves over the coming years…

We’ve had some great meals this year, most restaurants we have returned to again and again. So rather than rehash some of the same old blurb, I am going to leave you with some photos of our favourites of 2016.

Happy New Year to you, may the best of 2016 be the worst of 2017.

Until we eat again!

Roti Chai has become a firm favourite and every lunch we had there was as good as the last.

San Pellegrino hosted a series of dinners at Harvey Nichols - we went to the Ollie Dabbous evening and it was outstanding. I even got to meet the man himself (again)

A holiday of a lifetime in California in April

Zelman Meats, Duck & Waffle, Brasserie Zedel and Holborn Dining Room were all visited a number of times in 2016 for their fabulous food, brilliant service and great all round experience!

And finally some of my favourite recipes this year - chorizo jam, scallops with saffron risotto, poached eggs with potato farts, baked cola ham, focaccia and baked nectarines with vanilla

Happy New Year Sam! I took a step back from blogging in 2016 too, and did some reevaluation of which direction I actually want to go in. I think it was good for me and needed, I’m properly excited and stockpiling posts again for the first time in ages. Looking forward to seeing more of your yummy eats in 2017 xx
